Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Foundation
How You Can Help

Charitable gifts can take many forms. All gifts, of any size, are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law, and are greatly appreciated. Every gift to the Foundation is an important investment in the communities healthcare. To inquire about a donation call (757) 886-6746 or send an e-mail to teresa_ingalls@bshsi.org.

Memorial and Tribute Gifts
Gifts made in honor of family and friends at times such as a birthday, anniversary or other notable occasion can be gifts of love and show how much you care.

Outright Gifts
Gifts to the Foundation go directly to strengthen programs, add new services, acquire new medical equipment, or build new healthcare facilities. The goal of all projects and programs is to improve the health and lives of members of our community. You may designate your gift to a particular area such as cardiology, hospice, maternal/child health, memorials, St. Francis Nursing Center, Family Focus and campus development.

Every gift to the Foundation is an important step in furthering not only its mission, but that of Mary Immaculate Hospital as well.

Cash - Gifts of cash, by check or credit card (Visa and MasterCard), are available for immediate use by the Foundation and are normally fully deductible, to the extent allowed by law, for donors who itemize deductions.

Appreciated Securities - Gifts of long-term appreciated securities such as stocks, bonds or mutual fund shares may be deducted at the fair market value of the securities on the date of the gift, and may provide the donor the further benefit of avoiding tax on the capital gain portion of the gift. Please contact the Foundation Office and we will assist you through this process.

Pledges - Pledges provide prospective donors with additional flexibility in planning a gift and often enable a larger donation. Donors are able to make a pledge commitment over a mutually agreed upon period of time.

Planned or Deferred Gifts - Your Legacy
As part of your long-range financial planning, you may wish to make a planned or deferred gift, a gift that will be received after you have provided for your loved ones and yourself. Planned or deferred gifts may save taxes and fulfill your charitable plans.

Life Income Gifts

  • Charitable Remainder Unitrust
  • Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust

Life income gifts provide the donor with income while making a deferred gift to the Foundation. These life income trusts are usually managed by an external trustee designated by the donor. Life income gifts can offer an immediate income tax deduction.

Life Insurance Policy - The donor can designate the Foundation as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy.

Bequests - The easiest planned gift is to name the Foundation in your will.
