The Bon Secours surgical team performs the Roux-en-y gastric bypass surgery, the current gold standard procedure for weight loss surgery. The surgery seals off most of the stomach to decrease food intake and rearranges the small intestines to reduce the calories the body can absorb. Most patients undergoing this procedure experience permanent weight loss of more than 100 pounds and have maintained the loss for greater than 10 years.

The Surgical Weight Loss Center team has extensive experience in working with patients suffering from the physical and emotional impact of being severely overweight. The surgical team has performed more than 700 procedures, predominately using minimally invasive or laparoscopic techniques, with outcomes that surpass the U.S. national averages.
