Success Story - Marty Roth, Toronto, Canada

325 lbs: Pre-Op

Marty Roth : Pre-Op
167 lbs: 16 months Post- Op

Marty Roth : 16 months Post- Op

Marty Roth recognized the urgent need to make a change and sought the advice of doctors in the Toronto area. "It took me ten months to just get a consultation. The doctor was very polite in telling me he has a four-year waiting list to operate and he was sorry but there was nothing he could do."

I didn't feel I could wait for four years to do the surgery in Toronto, so I went on the Internet to investigate what things are like in the United States. I e-mailed four to five different clinics . and received a personal letter from Dr. Glen Moore (of the Bon Secours Surgical Weight Loss Center), as well as a full binder explaining the complete procedure from beginning to end.

"Three weeks after contacting the local OHIP offices, I was approved." Marty underwent surgery with Dr. Glen Moore, of Tidewater Surgical Associates and surgeon with Bon Secours Surgical Weight Loss Center, on December 31, 2003 and now considers that day to be "the first day of my new life."

Marty has lost 150 pounds and currently weighs 167 pounds with a BMI of 25.
