Cheryl Lofton, RN
Inpatient Bariatrics Coordinator

Cheryl is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the patient’s care from pre-operative preparation through surgery and post-op testing and support. She will also be involved in clinical data collection and on-going nursing education programs.

Prior to joining the Surgical Weight Loss Center, Lofton worked as a staff nurse at Bon Secours Health Center at Harbour View since late 2005. She worked at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center for several years, most recently as a nurse manager, managing the care of patients through surgical services, with concentration on the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Ambulatory Care Unit and Pre-Admission Testing. She also worked as a staff nurse in these areas, earning a reputation as a highly-skilled PACU nurse caring for the majority of critical care patients. .

Lofton gained additional nursing experience at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Va., caring for post-operative patients and critical care surgical patients. She also did nursing at Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City, N.C., and the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Va. She has an associate’s degree in nursing from J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College in Richmond.
