About Us | Our Team

Bon Secours EAP has provided services in the Tidewater / Hampton Roads area since 1982. We have great depth of experience and knowledge within our team. While many of the team members are licensed, our team specializes in employee assistance and its core technology as our full time employment. The professional credentialing for employee assistance is the Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP). Eligibility Criteria for the CEAP includes the completion of established criteria by the Employee Assistance Certification Commission (EACC). Candidates may apply under one of two tracks. Track One includes 3,000 hours of work experience in an EAP setting, 60 Personal Development Hours (educational hours specific to employee assistance function) and 24 hours of advisement supervision under a qualified CEAP. Track Two includes a graduate degree in an EAP related field, 2,000 hours of work experience in an EAP setting over a minimum of 2 years, 15 Personal Development Hours, and 24 hours of advisement supervision under a qualified CEAP. Candidates must then pass a written examination that reflects the tasks, knowledge, and skills of the EA professional. Four of our team members were among the first group to obtain the Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) certification in 1987. All of our counselors either have the CEAP certification or have completed the requirements for the CEAP with the exception of the testing. Many of our counselors are also certified in Substance Abuse including the SAP credential required to perform Substance Abuse Assessments for CDL drivers in compliance with DOT. Other credentials of our team include Licensed Marriage and Family Counselors and National Certified Counselors. All of our EAP counselors have extensive experience in the EAP field. Each month we will highlight a different team member so you can get to know a little about each of us.
