Confidentiality
Confidentiality of all EAP clients is strictly guarded and only broken in cases mandated under state and federal guidelines. All HIPAA guidelines will be followed. Some examples of reasons to break an employee/family member’s confidentiality are in cases where an employee/family member is suicidal, homicidal, child abuse, elder abuse, not able to care for self, an imminent danger in the workplace, court order and other cases where it is required by law. Employee/family members have a right to sign releases of information in order to provide feedback to other individuals involved in their care or in order to keep supervisors informed of progress in the program in the cases of formal referrals.
