Bon Secours Hampton Roads Announces 2008 Board of Directors



Suffolk, Va. (February 4, 2008) – Three new members-at-large have been appointed to the Bon Secours Hampton Roads Health System (BSHR) Board of Directors for 2008. They are: Michael D. Blount, Timothy J. Davis and Sister Patricia M. Heath, SUSC.

Blount is the director of marketing at Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School in Virginia Beach. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Guilford College in Greensboro, N.C., and a Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management diploma through the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. Blount spent about 25 years in the banking industry. He also serves on the school board of St. Matthew’s School in Virginia Beach.

Davis serves as executive vice president for organizational effectiveness with Bon Secours Health Systems. He has a bachelor’s degree from Massachusetts College and a master’s degree in administration from St. Michael’s College. During a 31-year career with General Electric (GE) prior to joining Bon Secours, he served in human resource leadership positions within GE’s national and international divisions. Davis has served on many boards over the years, including the United Way, Massachusetts Private Industry Council and Chamber of Commerce.

Sister Patricia is senior vice president of sponsorship for Bon Secours Health Systems. She has a bachelor’s degree in education from the College of the Sacred Hearts and a master’s degree in education with a concentration in theology and administration from Boston College. Sr. Pat has broad experience in health care and education, as well as broad teaching experience and administration in religious education.  She serves on a variety of boards, councils and religious and other professional organizations.

Other board members are: Alfred E. Abiouness, president of Abiouness, Cross & Bradshaw, Inc., a structural engineering firm; Rise Faith E. Dajao, M.D., a primary care physician with First Care P.C. in Chesapeake and Portsmouth; Richard A. Hanson, CEO of BSHR; Linwood E. Howard, senior vice president of SunTrust Bank; William H. Kline, president of William H. Kline Realty Co., Inc.; Robert W. Knapp, M.D., retired surgeon and former member of the Bon Secours Health System Board of Directors; Michael S. LaRock, vice president of finance and CFO of SYSCO Food Services of Hampton Roads, Inc.; Sister Anne Lutz, C.B.S., senior vice president of sponsorship for Bon Secours Health System; Bennie L. Marshall, RN, Ed.D., professor and department head of Norfolk State University’s department of nursing; Margaret (Peggy) Moser, executive vice president and founding officer of TowneBank; Mary Jane Nero, community representative from Virginia Beach; Wayne K. Sawyer, president and CEO of Bennett’s Creek Wholesale Nursery, Inc.; Robert Bennie Seal, M.D., retired pathologist; Deborah K. Stearns, managing director, Greater Virginia region for GVA Advantis real estate; James A. Stewart, M.D., internist with Internists of Churchland, Ltd.; and Sister Rita D. Thomas, CBS, sister president for BSHR.
