Portsmouth, Va. (April 1, 2008) – Susan J. Argilan has been promoted to clinical coordinator for therapy services at the Maryview Center for Physical Rehabilitation.

Argilan, a certified recreation therapy specialist, joined the Bon Secours Maryview Center in 2003. Since that time, she has provided patients with therapeutic interventions and activities for recreation and leisure, as well as materials for independent leisure pursuits. Prior to joining Bon Secours Maryview, she gained additional clinical experience at the Nansemond Pointe Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center and the Acute Rehabilitation Unit & Transitional Care Center at DePaul Medical Center.

She received her certified recreation therapy specialist designation in 2003 and has been a member of the American Therapeutic Recreation Association also since 2003. She has served as vice president of the Southeast Virginia Stroke Association since 2005. She also serves as secretary of Rebuilding Together Chesapeake, a nonprofit organization that works to preserve affordable housing by rehabilitating the homes of low-income homeowners.

Argilan earned a bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation from Longwood University in 2003. She is currently working toward a master’s degree in community health management at Old Dominion University.
