Bon Secours Hampton Roads Announces Dalton to Fill New Position
Suffolk, VA (March 5, 2007) – Eric W. Dalton has been appointed to the new position of assistant to the CEO with Bon Secours Hampton Roads. In this position, he will coordinate projects and activities for CEO Richard A. Hanson that support the local health system’s Strategic Quality Plan and goals.
Dalton joined Bon Secours in 2005, beginning at Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center as an administrative resident. During this time, he rotated though various hospital departments, then led the implementation of the hospitalist program and completed a management study on Emergency Department thru-put that resulted in more efficient movement of patients through the department.
After completing his residency, he transferred to Maryview Medical Center in June 2006 as an administrative fellow, working primarily in the Radiation Oncology Department. Dalton played a lead role in reorganizing the Center for Colon and Rectal Diseases and also reorganized Bon Secours Maryview’s Cancer Committee.
Dalton received a bachelor’s degree in Health Services Administration from James Madison University and a master’s degree in Health Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), with a certificate in Health Information and Technology Leadership. While at VCU, Dalton received the Health Administration Traineeship Award, and he now serves as the MHA Class of 2006 alumni representative. Dalton is an associate of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Central Virginia Healthcare Executives Group and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.
