BON SECOURS HAMPTON ROADS’ CONTINUING CARE DIVISION NAMES DEDICATED SERVICE AWARD RECIPIENT
Norfolk, Va. (November 21, 2005) – Debra Jenkins, a chaplain with Bon Secours Home Care and Hospice, was recently presented with the prestigious Bon Secours Dedicated Service Award for its Continuing Care Services Division.
“I am very honored and blessed to work with such a wonderful team; quite frankly, I believe we all deserve this award,” said Deb. And in her humble way, she adds “I am still not quite sure how I got this award. – I don’t feel I do any more than they do.”
The Dedicated Service Award is sponsored by the Bon Secours Health System, headquartered in Marriottsville, MD. It honors employees who have demonstrated their commitment to the core values of Bon Secours.
Deb was feted at a special dinner at the Harbor Court Hotel in Baltimore with 23 other award recipients and executive leaders from throughout the Bon Secours Health System nationally. In addition to a plaque commemorating her achievement and award, Deb also received a gift certificate to an area mall, a Dedicated Service Award pin, and a $500 check, which she will use to visit a seminary friend who is the pastor at a church in Jamaica.
Deb has been with Bon Secours since March 1997, serving first as a chaplain at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA, prior to joining the Home Care and Hospice team in 1999. She is a board-certified chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains and an ordained minister with International Ministerial Fellowship.
Eileen Malo, Executive Vice President of Continuing Care for Bon Secours Hampton Roads, is very proud of this year’s recipient. “Deb creates such a calm and peaceful environment so that God’s work can continue. Her gift is that she is so comfortable with people who are going through life’s passage. Often we do not use the gifts God gives to us, and Deb definitely does.” “The world is a better place because she does,” she adds.
Deb is a proud resident of Newport News, VA, and in her spare time, likes to spend time with family and friends, both in Hampton Roads and in North Carolina.
The Bon Secours Health System Dedicated Service Award honors employees who have demonstrated their commitment to the core values of Bon Secours. Winners are chosen by a team of managers who base their decisions on how well nominees meet the selection criteria, which include support of the mission of Bon Secours, personal development and accomplish-ments in activities that reach beyond the recipient’s basic job description. Dedicated Service Awards have been presented over the last 19 consecutive years.
