Bon Secours Hires Executive To Lead Maryview Foundation

Portsmouth, Va. (January 17, 2008) – Karen W. McQueen, CFRE, has been hired as vice president of fund development for the Bon Secours Maryview Foundation. McQueen brings ample fundraising and administrative management experience to this position, as she works to advance the goals of the Foundation.
McQueen comes to Bon Secours from Virginia Commonwealth University, where she had served as the assistant dean of advancement for the School of Allied Health Professions since 2005. Prior to this, she worked for several years as the senior director of development for Inova Health System Foundation in northern Virginia. McQueen has also worked as a private fundraising consultant for churches, professional associations and non-profit organization, and has also been employed in a variety of development and public relations positions for other health care and educational organizations.
McQueen has a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and completed graduate studies in primary and secondary education at the College of the Holy Names in Oakland, California. She has been a Certified Fund Raising Executive since 1988. She is a member of the Association for Fundraising Professionals, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, and the Virginia Association of Fundraising Executives. She has also served on a number of community boards and committees.
The Bon Secours Maryview Foundation was established after the Portsmouth community raised $1.5 million for the Martha Davis Cancer Center at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center. The Foundation develops funding sources for programs and services that support and extend the health care ministry of the Sisters of Bon Secours, benefiting residents of Portsmouth and western Hampton Roads served by Bon Secours Maryview. The Foundation supports children's health initiatives, access to primary care for underserved, patient care, spiritual programs and other community projects. |
