Gibson Named Medical Director Of Depaul Joint And Spine Center

Norfolk, Va., (August 27, 2007) –Wilford Gibson, M.D. has been named Medical Director of the Joint and Spine Center at Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center. Bon Secours DePaul's Joint and Spine Center is a member of the exclusive JointCare Centers of America, a nationwide network composed of hospitals and surgeons dedicated to excellence in the delivery of total joint replacement and related care.
Dr. Gibson has practiced with Atlantic Orthopaedic Specialists since 1994. He also holds several academic positions, including Associate Professor of the Division of Orthopaedics at Eastern Virginia Medical School, and Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD.
After completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Richmond, Dr. Gibson received his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia. He did his internship in General Surgery and his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Naval Regional Medical Center in Portsmouth. He also served as the medical officer aboard the USS Nassau for two years. He completed additional training in orthopaedic trauma at Tampa General Hospital and hip and pelvis surgery in Los Angeles.
Dr. Gibson is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is President of the Virginia Orthopaedic Society and past President of the Norfolk Academy of Medicine. He has contributed numerous articles to professional publications.
During college, Dr. Gibson competed internationally in 110 and 400 meter hurdles. He is a commercial airplane pilot and enjoys cycling, boating and fishing with his wife and children |
