Bon Secours Clinical Recruiter And Support Coordinator Receives Glowing Lamp Award

Norfolk, Va. (July 11, 2007) – Joy N. White, RN, BSN, MBA, recruiter and support coordinator for Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center, was recently presented with the Glowing Lamp Award by Chi Eta Phi Sorority Inc., a national sorority of registered, professional nurses’ and nursing students. White was recognized at an awards banquet held May 20th at the Murray Conference Center in Norfolk hosted by the local Chi Eta Phi Sorority. Proceeds from this event benefited the organization’s scholarship fund.
The award is given to nurses who have made outstanding contributions in the delivery of health care in their community. White’s focus is on hiring professional nurses and other clinical staff. She also maintains relationships with colleges and universities for increased community awareness of employment opportunities, as well as other duties that help ensure a smooth recruitment process.
Previously, White worked as the clinical nurse manager for Bon Secours DePaul, maintaining responsibility for the operation of the medical/surgical, telemetry and post-surgical units, as well as managing and mentoring over 70 nurses. Prior to then, White held jobs ranging from patient care coordinator to interim director of patient care services. In 2002, White received her registered nurse diploma from Sentara School of Health Professions. In 2004, she received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University, and in 2007, received her masters in business administration from Troy University.
Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc., consists of over 8,000 registered nurses and nursing students in graduate and undergraduate chapters throughout the United States, District of Columbia, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands and Liberia West Africa. Guided by the motto "Service for Humanity", the Sorority has programs focusing on health promotion/disease prevention, leadership development, mentoring, recruitment and retention and scholarships.
