Golf Tournament to Raise Funds to Support Free Health care in portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA—(April 13, 2006) Bon Secours Maryview Foundation announced today the proceeds of the annual golf tournament will benefit the Maryview Foundation Health Care Center. The double shotgun tournament will take place at Bide-A-Wee Golf Club, in Portsmouth on Thursday, June 1, 2006. Morning shotgun start will occur at 8:00 a.m. with the afternoon session starting at 1:00 p.m. The awards ceremony will be held at Bide-A-Wee-Pavilion at 6:00 p.m. Opportunities for sponsorships and foursomes are still available. This year’s presenting sponsor is Ocean Marine Yacht Center. Birdie sponsors are Sasser Construction, LLC, Tecnico Corporation, and TowneBank. The shirt sponsor for 2006 is Emergency Physicians of Tidewater. BB&T and Bayview Physician Services, PC are sponsoring beverages.

Maryview Foundation Healthcare Center opened December 2005 to provide free primary and preventive health care to eligible adults in the City of Portsmouth who have no health insurance. MFHC also provides specialty clinics to treat and manage patients with chronic diseases and congestive heart failure.

MFHC is located at 3600 High Street, adjacent to the Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center. Patients are referred from the Maryview Emergency Department, as well as physician offices and community agencies. Volunteer physicians, nurse practitioners, and other staff assist patients in establishing Maryview Foundation Healthcare Center as their medical home.
