Portsmouth, Va. (April 9, 2007) – Elizabeth A. Harris has joined the Maryview Foundation Healthcare Center as executive director. Harris brings a proven record of accomplishment in strategic planning, performance improvement, program planning and development, and statistical data analysis within the healthcare setting to her new position.

Before starting at the center in early March, Harris worked as a performance improvement consultant for MediCorp in Fredericksburg, Va.  She has also worked as a program developer and director of primary care for the Albemarle Foundation in Elizabeth City, N.C., a strategic data analyst for Albemarle Hospital, and as an emergency room nurse for Albemarle Hospital, Johns Hopkins Hospital and Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center.

Harris earned a master’s degree in Healthcare Administration in 2006 from Bellevue University in Bellevue, Neb. She received her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Christopher Newport University.

The Maryview Foundation Healthcare Center, which opened in December 2005, provides free primary and preventive health care to eligible adults in Portsmouth who have no health insurance or primary care physician. The facility also provides specialty clinics for patients with chronic diseases.
