Johnson appointed nurse manager at
Bon Secours Harbour View’s
new Emergency Department
(Suffolk, Va. April 10, 2007) – Kim Johnson, BSN, RN, CCRN, has been appointed the nurse manager of the Bon Secours Health Center at Harbour View’s Emergency Department. She brings diverse nursing and management experience ranging from emergency services to cardiac and medical intensive care services.
Before coming to Harbour View, Johnson worked at Memorial Regional Medical Center, part of the Bon Secours Health System in Richmond. At Memorial, she served as nurse manager for several nursing units that included interventional cardiac, post-surgical, cardiac and cardiopulmonary care. Prior to this, Johnson worked at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth as clinical nurse manager/coordinator for several nursing units. She is currently enrolled at Old Dominion University in the nursing master’s degree program.
The new Bon Secours Harbour View emergency department, which opened March 1, is part of the ongoing expansion of Bon Secours in the Harbour View area. The multi-million dollar emergency department accepts patients between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., seven days a week and with increasing community need, will be open 24 hours per day.
The department also offers patients a 30-minute treatment guarantee. If treatment is not initiated within 30 minutes of arrival, a staff member will explain the delay and provide the patient with their choice of a movie pass or gift certificate at a local merchant. Johnson brings to Harbour View successful experience with Memorial Regional Medical Center’s similar 30-minute guarantee for emergency services.
The new emergency department is an 11,000 square foot addition to the Bon Secours Health Center at Harbour View with 17 treatment beds. A fast track area offers quick treatment for sore throats, earaches and stitches. The center offers advanced emergency care for patients of all ages, with the capability to stabilize and transfer emergent or critical patients to nearby hospitals.
