PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT GEORGE LAM JOINS BON SECOURS HAMPTON ROADS HEALTH SYSTEM

(Portsmouth, Va– June 26, 2006) – Bon Secours Hampton Roads Health System has announced the appointment of Lung-Sang “George” Lam, PA-C, a cardiac surgery physician assistant with more than 15 years experience.

Lam’s most recent position was as a physician assistant at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, Honolulu. Prior to that, he was chief physician assistant at Mid-Atlantic Cardiothoracic Surgeons, Norfolk, VA. He also worked in Richmond, Va., as a physician assistant for Cardiac Surgical Associates, and as a cardiac EMT for West End Volunteer Rescue Squad.

Lam received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Va., and his PA certification from Northeastern University, Boston. He is experienced in all aspects of pre and post-operative care of cardiothoracic surgical patients, including 10 years of intensive care practice.

Bon Secours Heart Institute opened in November 2005 at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center. The Heart Institute is affiliated with Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons. Columbia University Medical Center at The New York Presbyterian Hospital was ranked seventh among the nation’s top heart programs in the 2004 U.S. News & World Report survey of best hospitals.
