BON SECOURS HAMPTON ROADS NAMES
DEDICATED SERVICE AWARD RECIPIENT
AT MARY IMMACULATE HOSPITAL

Newport News, Va. (December 8, 2005) – Julie Lear, nurse manager in the Intensive Care Unit at Mary Immaculate Hospital, was recently presented with the prestigious Bon Secours Dedicated Service Award.

Julie Lear “Julie exemplifies the core values of Bon Secours at home and at work,” Pat Robertson, executive vice president and administrator of Mary Immaculate Hospital. “Her dedication to her work is apparent in her everyday activities with staff, and her patients.” The Dedicated Service Award is sponsored by the Bon Secours Health System, headquartered in Marriottsville, Md. It honors employees who have demonstrated their commitment to the core values of Bon Secours.

Lear was honored at a special dinner at the Harbor Court Hotel in Baltimore with 23 other colleagues and executive leaders from throughout the Bon Secours Health System nationally. In addition to a plaque commemorating her achievement and award, Lear also received a monetary gift and a Dedicated Service Award pin.

Lear has more than 15 years tenure at Mary Immaculate Hospital. Lear volunteers at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church teaching catechism classes, and in 2005 held the first Spanish Health Fair. She has also volunteered as a nurse in her children’s school.

Lear is an accomplished critical care nurse, maintaining the national specialty certification of CCRN. She is also the past-president of the Peninsula Chapter of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN).

The Bon Secours Health System Dedicated Service Award honors employees who have demonstrated their commitment to the core values of Bon Secours. Winners are chosen by a team of managers who base their decisions on how well nominees meet the selection criteria, which include support of the mission of Bon Secours, personal development and accomplishments in activities that reach beyond the recipient’s basic job description. Dedicated Service Awards have been presented over the last 19 consecutive years.
