Newport News, Va. (October 16, 2007) – Susan Moeslein, RN, med/surg nurse educator at Mary Immaculate Hospital, was recently selected as Mary Immaculate’s representative for the Bon Secours Health System’s 2007 Dedicated Service Award.
Moeslein has been with Mary Immaculate since 2004. She was selected for this prestigious honor because of her consistent demonstration of the Bon Secours Core Values of respect, compassion, quality, innovation and growth. During her short time at the hospital, Moeslein has become well-known for her creativity in the education department. For example, she has spearheaded fun themes at the staff competency fairs. Although this is typically a stressful time for staff who are taking tests that require a mandatory pass rate, Moeslein’s fun themes such aloha, cowboys, cavemen and baseball, as well as her entertaining costumes, help lessen the stress. Moeslein leads a study group at the hospital on her days off to encourage nurses to pursue national certification in their specialty areas.
Sue is a leader among her peers and readily accepts additional duties to further the mission of the hospital. She also volunteers with the American Cancer Society and has led Mary Immaculate’s Relay for Life Team for the past four years. Under her leadership the teams have grown from one to three, and all hospital team members view the Relay for Life as an exciting event.
The Bon Secours Health System headquartered in Marriottsville, MD, sponsors the Dedicated Service Award. It honors employees who have demonstrated their commitment to the core values of Bon Secours.
Moeslein was honored at a special dinner in Baltimore with about two-dozen other award recipients and executive leaders from throughout the Bon Secours Health System nationally. In addition to a plaque commemorating her achievement and award, she will receive a Dedicated Service Award pin and monetary recognition.
