BSHR RECOGNIZED NATIONALLY FOR
CUSTOMER SERVICE
Norfolk, Va. (April 13, 2006) – Bon Secours Hampton Roads Health System, Inc., announced today the receipt of seven special awards for customer service award from the Professional Research Consultants, Inc. (PRC).
For a third year, Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center, located in Norfolk, received the highest recognition for customer service - a five-star award for inpatient care on the Joint and Spine Center surgical unit. Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center also received five-star customer service awards for the Oncology and the Acute Rehabilitation units.
The five-star customer service designation is limited to only those nursing units of hospitals or health facilities that achieved a score in the top ten percent (10%) of the nation, based on the percent of patients who rated their nursing unit as “Excellent” for Overall Quality of Care in 2005.
The Outpatient Surgery Center at Bon Secours Health Center at Harbour View, located in Suffolk, was also awarded five-star customer service award. In addition, the health center received a four-star customer service award for the Outpatient Diagnostic Services Department. In addition, the Outpatient Diagnostic Services Department applied for and received an platinum award for using the key driver “total time spent” to improve the efficiency of the patient flow process and improve their overall quality of care score to a four-star level.
Mary Immaculate Hospital, located in Newport News, received a four-star customer service award for outpatient surgery services, the second year in a row.
The four-star designation is limited to those hospitals that achieved a score in the top 25 percent (25%) of the nation, again based on the percent of patients who rated their care as “Excellent” for Overall Quality of Care in 2005.
