DR. MICHAEL POTTER JOINS BON SECOURS HAMPTON ROADS HEALTH SYSTEM AS DIRECTOR OF SPORTS MEDICINE

(Newport News, Va. – September 13, 2006) – Michael B. Potter, M.D., a physician with Tidewater Physicians Multispecialty Group (TPMG) at the Virginia Center for Athletic Medicine in Williamsburg and Newport News, Va., has been named director of Sports Medicine for the Victory YMCA Physical Therapy, a newly announced member of the Bon Secours Hampton Roads Health System.

Dr. Potter received his bachelor’s degree from University of Virginia, and his medical degree from Texas A&M College of Medicine in Texas. He completed his residency training at Riverside Family Practice Residency (Medical College of Virginia), Newport News, Va., and completed his sports medicine training at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Winston-Salem, N.C. 

Currently, Dr. Potter is head team physician at The College of William and Mary, associate team physician at Christopher Newport University, and full clinical professor at The Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News, Va. Previously, he was associate team physician at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte and team physician at Wake Forest University.
Dr. Potter lives with his wife and three daughters in Williamsburg, Va., where he is active in patient education and local high school sports.
