Norfolk, Va. (February 11, 2008) – Betsi Hurd, MSN, RN, CPHQ, has been hired as director of quality and outcomes management for Bon Secours Hampton Roads. Hurd brings a diverse background in nursing and quality improvement to the health system, where she will be responsible for oversight, development and implementation of quality initiatives.

Hurd comes to Bon Secours from Prince William Hospital in Manassas, Va., where she has held a variety of positions since 1999, most recently as a clinical data manager for the quality department. She also served as interim director and charge nurse of the hospital’s medical-surgical nursing unit, Previously, Hurd worked in nursing at two hospitals in the Inova Health System in Fairfax, Va., as well as a hospital in Ohio.

Since 2005, Hurd has served as an adjunct professor at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., where she teaches process improvement core curriculum for graduate level program.

Hurd earned a master’s degree in nursing from George Mason University and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Cincinnati in Ohio. She is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, awarded by the National Association for Healthcare Quality.
