ANGELA RUSSELL NAMED DIRECTOR OF MANAGED CARE
(Norfolk, Va– August 3, 2006) – Angela J. Russell has joined Bon Secours Hampton Roads Health System as director of managed care. In this position, Russell negotiates managed care contracts for Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center, Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center and Mary Immaculate Hospital.
“Part of my job is to explain to local employers why they should make sure their employees have choice in their health care options,” said Russell, “and that choice should always include Bon Secours Hampton Roads facilities and services.”
Russell received her bachelor’s degree from James Madison University, and she currently is working toward a master of health administration (MHA) degree through Central Michigan University.
She has worked in health care for more than 22 years, most recently as director of managed care and reimbursements for Obici Health System. Prior to Obici, Russell worked as a financial consultant for Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, and as a senior reimbursement analyst for Sentara Health System. Russell also worked for The Piedmont Group, and she worked as chief financial officer for Newport News General Hospital in 1993, preparing the hospital for closure following its bankruptcy. Before that, she worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Virginia (now Anthem) as a Medicare auditor, supervising the audit staff and directing the focus of in-house reviews and on-site audits.
