Bon Secours Hampton Roads Joins Spirit of Women Coalition

Newport News, VA – Bon Secours Hampton Roads announced today that they have joined the Spirit of Women national network. The Spirit of Women, is a non-profit organization that unites the individual efforts of hospitals throughout the United States to educate and care for women in a unique way that emphasizes total well-being -- body, mind, and spirit.

“Bon Secours is dedicated to promoting the health and the quality of life for the women of Hampton Roads,” said Elisabeth McNamara, vice president of strategic business development for Bon Secours Hampton Roads. “This partnership is directly supportive of the Bon Secours mission and a testament to our commitment to the community." The Spirit of Women is an extraordinary community-based initiative that addresses the issues of family, health, and work through a variety of venues such as educational events, networking opportunities, consumer loyalty programs, national awards, and promotion of research,” she explained.

The Spirit of Women directs and supports research and education in women's health. Over time, it is expected that there will be a measurable decline in the number of women treated for preventable illnesses. The Spirit of Women will be benchmarking key areas of women's health to measure future results.

Bon Secours Hampton Roads joins a growing network of more than 128 hospitals and health care systems across the country. Together they have joined with a mission to improve the health of American women and their families. Spirit of Women activities includes local health screenings, educational outreach through print and media, special events in the community, physician forums and participation in national health promotions and conferences.
