STUPPY JOINS BON SECOURS HEART INSTITUTE TEAM

(Portsmouth, Va– July xxx, 2006) – Bon Secours Hampton Roads is pleased to announce the appointment of Margaret A. Stuppy as nurse practitioner for the BON Secours Heart Institue's cardiac surgery program.

Margaret Stuppy Stuppy, whose duties include care management of the cardiac surgery patient from post-surgery through discharge, graduated from Milwaukee County General Hospital School of Nursing. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the Medical College of Virginia-Virginia Commonwealth University, and her master’s degree in nursing from Old Dominion University.

“We are fortunate to have someone like Marge working with the Heart Institute team,” said Joseph S. Auteri, M.D, medical director of the Bon Secours Heart Institute. “With 35 years of experience in cardiac nursing, she brings a high level of professionalism while adding to our standard of compassionate care.”

Prior to joining Bon Secours, Stuppy worked for Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Va, and held several positions over a 20-year period, including RN staff nurse in the cardiac surgery ICU, and RN cardiology assistant in the cardiac catheterization lab. She has an additional 15 years of experience working as an RN staff nurse in the ICU for various hospitals in Texas, Michigan, Wisconsin and Virginia.

Stuppy is a member of American Association of Critical Care Nurses, and the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners.

Bon Secours Heart Institute opened in November 2005 at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center. The Heart Institute is affiliated with Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons. Columbia University Medical Center at The New York Presbyterian Hospital was ranked sixth among the nation’s top heart programs in the 2005 U.S. News & World Report survey of best hospitals.
