BON SECOURS HAMPTON ROADS SELECTS TEAMHEALTH AS EMERGENCY PHYSICIAN GROUP
(Norfolk, Va. – October 1, 2006) Bon Secours Hampton Roads Health System Inc. announced today the association of TeamHealth, a national emergency care provider, beginning October 1, 2006 at Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center in Norfolk and Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth. In July 2006, TeamHealth began providing emergency physician services at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News and will be the emergency services provider at Bon Secours Health Center at Harbour View’s new advanced emergency facility when it opens Spring 2007.

Hanson, CEO for Bon Secours Hampton Roads Health System. “To accomplish this goal, we have partnered with a highly-skilled, national emergency physician group, TeamHealth, to staff our emergency services departments and work with our highly skilled nurses and technicians. TeamHealth was selected for their ability to recruit top-notch emergency physicians to the communities in which they serve, for developing protocols and programs focused on the safe and timely delivery of emergency care, and for their track record of achieving excellence in patient and physician customer service satisfaction reports.”

In fiscal year 2006, Bon Secours Hampton Roads hospitals provided more than 115,000 patient visits in the emergency departments. “It’s clear from our research, that our emergency departments are often the first encounter for of the majority of patients admitted to our hospitals,” said Hanson. “We recognize the importance of this first impression and we are committed to ensuring that our community has the clinical expertise available in their time of need. Providing excellence in a time of an emergency is at the heart of the ministry of the Sisters of Bon Secours which is to be good help to those in need.”
