DR. JIMMY WINDSOR JOINS BON SECOURS
HEART INSTITUTE

Portsmouth, Va. (April 13, 2006)  - Bon Secours Heart Institute announced today the association of Jimmy Windsor, M.D., as the cardiac surgery team’s anesthesiologist and medical director / intensivist for the Heart Institute’s Cardiovascular & Thoracic Intensive Care Unit. 

Prior to joining Bon Secours, Windsor was the attending anesthesiologist for the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in Louisiana.  Before that, he was the attending anesthesiologist for Owensboro Mercy Health Systems in Kentucky.  He also held positions as adjunct assistant professor of clinical anesthesiology at the University of Miami, and assistant professor of anesthesiology, University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center, Miami.

Auteri, M.D., medical director, Bon Secours Heart Institute.  “In addition, his  exceptional skills in both critical care and cardiac anesthesiology has made Dr. Windsor an outstanding addition to our team.  Dr. Windsor also has special talent for compassionately caring for our patients and their families.”

Windsor received his bachelor’s degree from Columbia College of Columbia University, New York, and received his medical degree from the University of Miami/School of Medicine, Miami.  He did his internship and residency training, as well as critical care and cardiac anesthesia fellowships, at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center, Miami.  Dr. Windsor is board certified in both cardiac anesthesia and critical care. 

Bon Secours Heart Institute opened in November 2005 at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center. The Heart Institute is affiliated with Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons.  Columbia University Medical Center at The New York Presbyterian Hospital was ranked seventh among the nation’s top heart programs in the 2004 U.S. News & World Report survey of best hospitals.
