BON SECOURS HAMPTON ROADS HEALTH SYSTEMNAMES WRIGHT-MARTIN DIRECTOR OF FAITH COMMUNITY NURSING

(Norfolk, Va. – Sept. 13, 2006) – Lisa Wright-Martin, MSN, RN, ARNP-BC, OCN, has been named director of the faith community health ministry for the Bon Secours Hampton Roads Health System. In this role, Wright-Martin will be responsible for the ongoing development of a ministry that now includes more than 70 congregations and 180 trained registered nurses.

Previously, Wright-Martin worked at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center as oncology educator/palliative care coordinator/pain management consultant. She was a leader in establishing the palliative care program at Maryview and also helped to establish the lung/chest program as its coordinator. She received the 2005 Maryview Clinical Nurse Excellence Award.

“Lisa is especially qualified for this new responsibility,” said Sister Shaun Malone, vice president of mission at Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital.  “She led the way at her own church in establishing a parish nurse ministry, and she brings ‘hands-on’ experience to her new role.”

Wright-Martin earned her master’s degree in nursing and is certified as a primary care nurse practitioner. Prior to joining Bon Secours, Wright-Martin served as a critical care nurse and preceptor at St. Vincent Medical Center in Jacksonville, Fla., as adjunct professor in the School of Nursing at Jacksonville University, and as assistant professor at the School of Nursing at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville.
