DePaul's array of diagnostic equipment includes endoscopic capabilities, MRI, CT, mammography, x-ray imaging, and nuclear medicine. Additionally, our cancer specialists have access to the area's only proton emission tomography (PET) scanner - one of only two in Virginia.
Radiation Oncology Services
DePaul has long been known as one of the area's leading providers for radiation therapy services. With the support of a team of therapists, dosimetrists, and radiation oncologists, our radiation therapy services include external beam irradiation, prostate seed implantation, high dose rate after-loading procedures, as well as a broad range of other high dose and low dose brachytherapy procedures.
The Thoracic Program
The only of it's kind in the region - this program has been designed around a multi-specialty physician model with a team of specialists that includes: a thoracic surgeon, a radiation oncologist, a medical oncologist, pulmonologists, and gasteroenterologists. The team of cancer specialist collaborates to improve the efficiency of care for patients with lung, esophageal, thyroid, and
thymus tumors. Because all the necessary specialists are represented during team conferences, patients can avoid going from specialist to specialist to get an appropriate treatment plan and begin care quickly. The focus of the program is to coordinate care and reduce delays in initiating therapy.
In-Patient Care
Privacy, a highly qualified, caring staff and coordinated care are the reasons patients and their physicians choose DePaul when an inpatient stay is the best option for cancer care. Each of our rooms is private, allowing extended family stays. Our staff is lead by oncology certified nurses, who work closely with our team of physician specialist to assure that care is delivered by staff that has a special calling to care for individuals undergoing cancer treatments.
Image Recovery Center
Although Cancer treatments offer hope and the possibility of controlling the disease, one of the most difficult things individuals deal with is the effect of that treatment on their appearance - the temporary and permanent physical changes that may accompany some aspect of treatment. Now there's a therapy for the outside. The Image Recovery Center addresses appearance issues with color, clothing, cosmetics, hair replacement, and mastectomy products.
