H. DAVID VARGAS, MD, FACS
Colon and Rectal Surgeon
Dr. Vargas earned his doctorate from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He completed his colon and rectal surgery fellowship at Ochsner Medical Foundation in New Orleans, Louisiana and his residency at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Dr. Vargas is a board certified colon and rectal surgeon. He has completed advanced training in advanced laparoscopy and anorectal physiology testing.

Gregory P. FitzHarris, MD, FACS
Colon and Rectal Surgeon
Dr. FitzHarris earned his medical degree from Duke University's School of Medicine. He completed a general surgery internship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Bethesda ,Maryland, a general surgery residency at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii and a colorectal surgery fellowship at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
A board certified colon and rectal surgeon, Dr. FitzHarris served as Chief, Colorectal Surgery at the Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington prior to joining Tidewater Surgical Specialists, PLLC. Additionally, he was an assistant professor in surgery at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, Bethesda Maryland. Dr. FitzHarris has authored or co-authored numerous medical publications and is a member of the colon-rectal editorial team for the medical journal, Current Surgery.

Ray T. Ramirez, MD

Colon and Rectal Program
Dr. Ramirez brings a wealth of knowledge and
experience to our Colon and Rectal Cancer Program. His
career has been dedicated to refining and perfecting
the art of colon and rectal surgery. Dr. Ramirez’s
skill and credentials have earned him the respect of
fellow physicians and surgeons. He is also recognized
for his expertise in using innovative, minimally invasive
surgical techniques and teaches these skills to physicians
all around the world. Dr. Ramirez’s practice,
Tidewater Surgical Specialists, is located in Chesapeake,
Virginia. |

Sheryl Bailey, RN, BSN, CWOCN
Enterostomal Therapist
Sheryl Bailey graduated Cum Laude from Old Dominion University
with a BS in nursing. She is a certified basic life support
instructor and is also a certified wound, ostomy and continence
nurse. Sheryl began her nursing career at Bon Secour Maryview
Medical Center. She is also an experienced home health
care nurse. |

Susan E. McKenzie, MD
Radiologist
Dr. McKenzie is a graduate of Eastern Virginia Medical
School. She served her internship at Anderson Memorial
Hospital in South Carolina and her residency in radiology
at Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine. Dr. McKenzie
practices with Medical Center Radiologists in Norfolk,
Virginia. |
