Checklist (Word Doc)
The Midwifery Center at DePaul is proud to be the region's
first and only hospital-based, Midwifery Birth Center - designed
to offer a high-touch experience in a home-like environment
but within the safety of a hospital. Our philosophy is to
treat birth like a natural process, not an illness.
About the Center
The Midwifery Center at DePaul features private family rooms
with queen-sized beds. Jacuzzis are available for mothers
who need help relaxing during labor. A family waiting area
is easily accessible for family members and friends who await
the birth of their new loved one.
Your Pregnancy and Your Midwife
During pregnancy and throughout labor and delivery, the health of you and your baby will be monitored by a certified nurse-midwife. They are available to answer any questions that may arise during this exciting time.
After the birth, your midwife will follow up with
you and your baby to ensure that proper health is maintained and, if needed, give advice on breastfeeding and mother-care.
It is comforting to know that your midwife is a licensed registered nurse who has graduated from a university-based higher education program accredited by the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM). Nurse-midwives must also pass a national certification examination and meet strict requirements set forth by state health agencies. They are highly qualified to care for you during your pregnancy, labor and beyond.
How can I deliver my baby at the Midwifery Center?
